Also known as NDs or Naturopathic doctors, Naturopaths are healthcare providers who use natural therapies to support and stimulate healing. They offer a wide range of services to people of all ages, including dispensing and prescribing drugs.
All licensed naturopaths complete a minimum of three years of university-level training, including pre-medical courses, and four years at an accredited naturopathic medical program.
Naturopaths practising in Ontario are regulated by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario. Registration with a regulatory body ensures they have the knowledge, skills and judgment necessary to care for their patients safely and effectively.
There are many reasons why our patients choose to seek out naturopathic care. Someone might choose a naturopath for treatment because naturopathy focuses on holistic, personalized care that aims to treat the root cause of health issues rather than just alleviating symptoms. Naturopaths use natural therapies, including herbal medicine, nutrition, and lifestyle counseling, which can appeal to individuals seeking alternatives to conventional pharmaceuticals and invasive procedures. Patients who value preventive care, wish to enhance their overall well-being, and prefer a collaborative approach to their health often find naturopathy attractive. Additionally, naturopathy emphasizes patient education and self-care, empowering individuals to take an active role in their health journey. This integrative approach can be particularly appealing for those with chronic conditions or who have not found satisfactory results with traditional medical treatments.
